I've not long finished a linocut print of my old cat Buzz. He spent most of his last summer, sleeping and taking it easy, in a small patch of bindweed onder an old vine in a corner of the garden. A summer painting of Agapanthus and Fennel flowers, birds and bees.

I've recently completed another largish reduction linocut print. It is of a Barn Owl, not one of the most common birds in the area (I think this part of the Beacons is at the edge of its territory)but one of my favourites. I've been doing some paintings of the hedge in winter very close to my house. I like the silhouette made because at some time in the past the hedge has been 'layed' and the sharp edge and sides, from where Chris the farmer has expertly trimmed it for many y

I've just got back from the rather crowded and sweaty (it was so popular and it has been such a hot day!)launch of the Crickhowell Open Art exhibition. The standard of work on show seems to improve every year. Once again it is an interesting and varied collection of work. My studio space is almost ready for the Open Studios weekend (I'm kidding myself I know), as soon as I finish writing this I must get on and sort out the last of the lino and Giclee prints for the print rack

This is the ninth year for Crickhowell Open Studios. Local artists open their studios and galleries to the public over the three days of the second Bank Holiday in May. After what seems to have been forever (about two years!) my studio/work space is nearly finished. Old fireplace and chimney replaced, new doors and windows, floor and beams re-sanded and walls filled and painted. Christmas to get through first with sofas and a tree in the corner with family coming to stay. I'm so looking forward to working in the space. #studio #Crickhowell #Dardy
