The irises in the garden have been fantastic this yar. I've managed to complete two small paintings from them. Both are 24x30cm, oil on linen canvas.
I've tried to capture how the flowers light up like lanterns when the early morning sun shines through them.
In the more lilac coloured one it was a misty and rainy morning and the swifts are screeching through the sky.
The poppies are so bright in the other painting with the sun shining through them. It was challenging capturing thier colour without them jumping forward too far in the picture and swamping the delicate colours of the irises.
