This is the ninth year for Crickhowell Open Studios. Local artists open their studios and galleries to the public over the three days of the second Bank Holiday in May. There is always a wide range of work on show such as paintings, photography, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics and jewellery.
An online copy of the brochure is available here. Alternatively you can pick up a copy from many shops, pubs, museums and galleries in the area.
I have always enjoyed visiting other artists and seeing their studios or just seeing work exhibited in different venues around Crickhowell.
I must admit that being involved in Art education and not having had the time to produce much work of my own, I have often wished I could take part as an exhibitor. This year, with the work space finished and more time on my hands, I have been lucky enough to join the list of studios and exhibition venues!
So I'm busy framing and organising the artwork that I have available and that I feel would be of interest.
It is quite a nerve wracking experience. It makes you start to question what you are creating and why you do it, rather than just 'bumbling' along painting or printing when possible.
Anyway please visit, take a look, feel free to comment and just have a chat.
I've also had the 'Owain's Ravens' painting accepted in the Crickhowell Open Art Competition. This takes place in the Oriel Cric Gallery. The work is exhibited from the 27th May - 3rd July.
