I've just finished a new lino print. It's an idea that has been developing in my mind for a while. A combination of some photographs and sketches looking from the river in front of the beer garden towards Crickhowell bridge and a seated female figure from a life drawing.
I didn't know there was a specific Celtic/Welsh water spirit till I did a bit of research. Apparently a 'Morgen' was a malevolent spirit who lured people (nearly always a foolish man!) to jump into the water and drown.
I took a few pictures as a record as I went through the various stages of creating the print. They show how the image is built up using a reduction technique. The same piece of lino is progressively cut away for each of the different colours/tones.
